The Manurere is our latest Va'a Toru, a "three-men" Tahitian outrigger canoe. Its design allows great performance as much in calm conditions as in the surf. And what a dream it is to take it out for a spin with friends in the surf! In fact, it takes its name "Manurere" from that feeling: to take flight.
While our previous V3 design dates back to 2008, it had set itself as the reference in the sport of open ocean marathon racing and sprint racing over the years. It also defined itself as an important training tool for club teams while being a fun canoe between friends wanting to get some exercise or heading out for some fun surf sessions.
With our previous V3 design omnipresent in clubs in Tahiti and its islands as well as internationally, we were able to receive precious feedback from paddlers around the world using it on different bodies of water and in just about every conditions. Having given ourselves ample time to think of what was to be improved, it was time to apply what we learnt over years of having our Va'a Toru on the water and from all the feedback we received.
To accommodate for the various bodies of water our previous V3 design was being used in by paddlers worldwide, the Manurere V3 was built to handle rough water while still performing on flat water. From lake paddling in Switzerland to big downwind runs in Maui, it needed to accommodate varying conditions.
The overall design was streamlined to enhance aerodynamics.
Introducing the Manurere

Unlike other V3 designs, the Manurere showcases a narrow and sleek hull giving it unmatched top speed compared to other V3's. It allows paddlers to accelerate quickly, allowing paddlers to transition from bump to bump easily in downwind runs.
More freeboard was provided to allow the V3 to be used in any conditions and keep a drier cockpit.
As we have done with our other canoe designs in recent years, ergonomics were a focal point to better paddlers' experience as well as their comfort.
A new ama design was developed to improve stability and speed while allowing the canoe to move freely without the sticky feeling or swamping that plagues previous V3 ama designs.
The Manurere V3 is a true paddler's dream. It is the ideal compromise when 3 friends or training partners want to go out paddling or training. Between the "one-man" outrigger canoe, V1, and the "six-men" outrigger canoe, V6, the Manurere V3 allows team paddlers to train differently and tighten the team spirit. It is also great for 6-men or 9-men crews to form teams of three to train and compete against each other, pushing each team member to develop their skills and push their limits. It is a training tool that should not be overlooked by larger crews.
While the Manurere V3 was designed as a high performance racing outrigger canoe as much for endurance races as well as speed trials, it really is a fun recreational canoe for surfing, fishing and all family fun ocean activities that can be had on an outrigger canoe.
The Manurere V3 will soon be available worldwide in Ozone's 100% prepreg carbon fiber cured in autoclave so stay tuned for the lightest, fastest and strongest V3 in the Va'a sport! Until then, the Manurere V3 is only available to order in Tahiti.

You can customize your Manurere with 16 colors for the hull, ama and logos in any combination you’d like. The Manurere comes with fitted dust covers for its hull, ama and iatos.

The pro construction layup was created for paddlers looking for the best in Va'a construction in order to gain a competitive edge as well as those looking for the lightest V3 possible in order to make carrying and transporting it a breeze.
Most of the weight reduction stems from the paint used and painting process, limiting the amount of paint applied and sanding it down to a thin layer, giving the pro model a distinctive sanded-through look.
To keep the weight low, pro model hulls can only be 5 colors (pro Grey, pro White, pro Green and pro Yellow) and customizations options are limited to coloring the cockpit and logos. The ama can be any color and, unlike the standard model, the iakos can be colored.
The Manurere pro comes with thicker, UV resistant fitted acrylic marine canvas covers for its hull, ama and iatos for better protection.
